It's a slightly inferior hollow knight in a grim fantasy skin, and that's something a lot of people would buy gratefully.
The premise and presentation is great, personally I believe it could do better with a style other than 32-bit pixels, but even for that the scenery is very striking.
Gameplay-wise the platforming is alright, tighter controls would be good for the experience, boss fights are varied in both design and combat fun, I'm not the best platforming player but yet at times I felt I was steamrolling parts of the game.
The world is honestly pretty fucking cool, and the fantastical elements mix perfectly with the grim medieval world.
Again, I can't think of a mechanical design that hollow knight didn't do better, this may be biased, but it's not long ago when I played HK. However, if you played this first and want more, boy do I have a recommendation for you.
