NOTE: I emulated the Japanese version with duckstation and patched a translation, because the difference is night and day. DO NOT PLAY the euro/us release!

The jump from 2 to is astounding, in a way that makes 3 superior in every way and 2 almost obsolete.
It's got the same loop with a few adjustments because that's all it needed, the combat is nice if a bit on the easier side, and the narrative fluff is more substantial than to be called fluff in the first place. It lifts off from a nice post-capitalist corporate hegemony backplot but becomes so much more, its plot driven by millennia old human greed that crosses new frontiers about virtual existence, politics, and unquenchable lust. It's good enough that I replayed through all endings to get the full picture.
If you're interested in ace combat because of the memes this is where you wanna start.
