Great writing and voice acting, that goes without saying. The soundtrack too is wonderful. There's even sections of the game I think are great.

However, I just don't think this is enough to justify the jankiness of the experience. Some of this can be put down to age, but a lot of it is just the creakiness of the design and some really piss poor combat scenarios. It's a shame it gets lazy when so much of it is breathtaking. Perhaps I'll play the sequel, but I'm in no hurry to.
