Holy fuck this game is fucking awful outside of its ending. I have never seen characters and writing as stupid as this game. I don't even know why i am giving it 3 stars but the good stuff in here almost make up for how miserable everything else is
People cry blockuza 3 but claim this is the best game in the series, lol.
I sure love all the padded busy work to justify the $50 price tag which devolves into kiryu being an mmo errand boy getting people their specific toe nail clipper from the other side of town or give them a magic condom or some shit.
The game has some great moments SPOILERS AHEAD:
-orphanage helper substory
-the arena
-the line about ryuji goda after the fight in chapter 2
-the video on the ipad
-the final boss fight
But these moments being good doesn't magically negate all the other bad shit in this game

If you are talking about who i think you are then there are huge chunks of the game where they just aren't there or relevant to the plot because the game is juggling 2 separate plot lines that barely intersect. Then in chapter 5 they have a 15 minute cutscene where they just lore dump their whole backstory and reason they are about to fight by repeating the same shit multiple times. Chapter 5 is the highlight of the game outside of the scene in the construction site

Watched your video and now that I understand your points, you're spitting. Really great video and you did a good job of making me reconsider my stance on this game in a really interesting way!
Watched your video and as a person that liked this game, you've brought up some excellent points about it along with understandable worries for the future of the series! I agree that Gaiden definitely could have been better if it was way shorter and RGG's tendency to bring back Kiryu plays way too much into the very themes that they try to oppose. I'm going to stick away from the Infinite Wealth segment of the video until I've actually played the game. Its definitely a controversial video, seeing the number of comments about how "oh the series has always been stupid therefore this stupid thing is fine!" or "youre just not having fun like we are!". Please continue to stay true to what you want to say, and I cannot wait for your Yakuza 3 retrospective.

I'm pretty sure this is not only the yakuza game with the least replay value, but the first one to never get a New Game Plus, Legend difficulty, or just a simple patch apart from the day 1 patch.
