An improvement over its predecessor, an already solid 2D Mario title. It's less weird, and the soundtrack isn't as memorable to me personally, but it controls better, looks the part, has the great Carrot power-up that snaps the game in half, and introduces Wario, the best character in the series.

The insane difficulty spike of the final level is something I hope the people responsible for are held accountable to.
