NEC PC-8800 Tasting Menu
A small selection of games for NEC's PC-8800/PC-88 series of 8-bit personal computers. You can find most PC-88 games on Internet Archive via Neo Kobe for use the emulator of your choice. I recommend ePC8801MA Kai SE or a MiSTer FPGA if you have one.
Originally intended for business use, the PC-8800 series quickly became the most popular computer in Japan (though it was closely followed by the Fujitsu FM-7 and Sharp X1). Fully compatible with PC-8000 software, it provided a smooth upgrade path for customers already invested in the NEC PC-ecosystem. Its competitors outshined the PC-88 in terms of features and games, leading to the speedy development of the PC-9800 series. The 1985 revision, the PC-8801mkIISR, improved its capabilities, but the killer feature of it was the introduction of FM synthesis for personal computers.
Many PC-88 games came out on the X1 and FM-7, and if they did, those versions are better.
