One of the most unique and fun movement mechanics I have ever interacted with, alongside a story and world that got me genuinely interested in the latter half.

The story is a basic amnesiac protagonist with powers helping random people out of pure altruism. Pretty standard stuff. It started to pique my interest when you begin exploring the tree.

The art of the 2d character cards look very nice and I love how the 3d character model glows in game when shifting. The world is fun to explore but unfortunately falls into varying shades of smeary, radioactive greens or dusty browns. The oversized menus and simple quest/episode system help to remind us that this is originally a PSP game, so perhaps most of the gripes with this game were hardware limitations.

The sound design would have greatly benefitted from voice acting as the fun writing in text always clashed against the grunting of the 3d cutscenes. The music has a nice main theme, but most pieces outside of this (especially the world exploration songs) seem to be on a 30 second loop that becomes quite grating during gem hunting.

Overall I loved playing this game. The movement mechanics and combat, while occasionally clunky and not infrequently disorienting, were a genuine joy to play around with. The story snuck up on me with some genuinely interesting developments despite its cutesy and simplistic beginning. Definitely worth playing and supporting so we can get more unique and experimental games like this in the future.
