Insanely unforgiving but nearly equally as fun. The "Nearly ultimate Fallout" guide saved me. It clearly still has some insane crust and jank that needed fixing with the Fallout fixt patch, after all that though there's so much the game has going for it.

Combat can be tedious to figure out at first but feels rewarding once you get the hang of it. Soundtrack and ambience is really immersive and even though they're aged, the character models grow on you and have some kind of charm to them. The general aesthetic of the game is great overall.

On a more negative side, the hidden in game timer (not the water chip) really fucking blows and barely gives you room to explore and take your time with things and you don't even become aware of it until the very late game to ending. I'd dog on the ruthlessness of the game overall if it wasn't for the guide but honestly I can chalk that up to 90s game design. Also fuck the brotherhood of steel crack paladins for killing my teammates and not moving out of the way while I was trying to escape the fucking base during the destruction sequence.
