A massive improvement over the first entry. Visually the HUD is the same but the art style is much more lively. The gameplay is so much more fun because of how quick and easy it is to fill the burnout meter now, though there still isn't an onscreen effect when boosting yet. What I do love is how you can keep filling your meter while boosting which will chain your boosts once it depletes, it fits the tone of the game perfectly.

One thing that really stands out are the Hot Pursuit style missions and of course, the biggest plus here is Crash events being introduced. It’s much more simplistic compared to Burnout 3 but still a lot of fun. Overall an excellent and underrated racing title that does everything better than its predecessor.
