In my search for the best PS2 Madden game, I had to try 06. Not because of QB vision (it's bad and can be turned off), but because this game features the debut of Superstar mode.
I find almost all other versions of Superstar mode on PS2 to be unplayable due to the overly zoomed in camera angle, but in 06, you can use the normal camera angle and control the whole team. Unfortunately, Superstar mode is still a letdown. The presentation is bad and the off the field action is often boring or non-existent. The corresponding mode in EA's NCAA Football games is much better all around.
Finally, the 06 engine is also tough to go back to. DBs are still way too overpowered (the problem with Madden 05), and the new running moves and audible UI don't make their debut until 07. If you're looking for the best Madden on PS2, this is not it.
