I heard about this game a few months ago, apparently it's very popular with vtubers. I saw gameplay footage and thought it looked like every other drop down puzzle game I've ever played. I wouldn't have picked this up if it hadn't been for a limited time trial on Nintendo Switch Online. But now I am a man transformed.

Suika Game is a very simple puzzle game that follows the old school "easy to learn, hard to master" formula that classic series like Tetris and Puyo Puyo and Panel De Pon perfected. The object is to match fruits to combine bigger fruits to consolidate space in a grocery bag. But just like watching footage, describing the gameplay simply isn't enough to convey its addictive nature. I encourage anyone and everyone to give this game a try. You'll be shocked at how many hours you lose to it, especially considering it's a $3 game. My minor critique is that while the minimalism of Suika Game is part of its charm, I wouldn't have minded a few more features. There are leaderboards, but it would've been nice to be able to compare your high score to others on your friend list. A two-player mode would've been nice too, although I can see how some gameplay elements would need to be tweaked for a competitive experience. I hope Suika Game doesn't stay exclusive to the switch. I feel like it could reach household name level popularity, especially if it was available on mobile phones.
