The black sheep of the franchise? I'm not entirely sure how accurate that statement is. III could have that title, it was the very next game after the masterpiece ii was and it definitely couldnt hold a candle to that game. It was also a ps2 exclusive so some others who played the previous game missed out on the third installment.

V also could certainly have that title. It sold considerably less than this one did ( over a million less😬) and it replaced some beloved characters of the franchise with knock off versions. The guest character (ezio) also wasn't as hype.

However when talking to Core fans of the series....this one doesn't get talked about too much. Whenever it does get brought up it's also a short " oh, that one was ok" or a " oh 4? Yeah that one kinda sucked". I've never heard a hardcore fan of the series actually enjoy this game.

Most casuals (and for this game I'm one of them) remember this one as "the one with the star wars characters" and that's about as far as it goes. I like this game more than 3 but not as much as 2. The stages in iv are more memorable than the ones in 3 for me, the gameplay is still consistent and pretty good, graphics were good for the time.

THE MUSIC is still lackluster tho I will say that. Also the sound design seems to have taken a slight hit here as well, nothing sounds or feels as impactful as the last 2 games were.

Still even with my problems with it I played and enjoyed it much more than iii

You're not wrong, i always struggle to remember specifics about 4. I just remember being disappointed that Yoda was the guest character, and not something more fitting.
