I loved Mafia II and Mafia III was a potentially great game marred by generic open-world bloat. I have always wanted to play the original Mafia and I finally did with this remake. It looks good and I appreciate all the love that went into this but Mafia is a straight up musty game at this point. Tommy controls possibly worse than Arthur Morgan, which is really saying something, and a great deal of this game feels super dated in general. I actually love a nice linear story-based game but you can really feel the years on this one. The story is nothing new but it's a good tale well told and a solid entry in the mafia genre. Unfortunately, the super dated gameplay holds this back from being a great achievement. Still, if they made a Mafia IV and did it as a linear story? Count me in.
