Could have been a fun Goemon side-scroller for the NES, but instead it’s a horrendous RPG. Slow as hell, tedious, but somehow still not very hard. Random encounters could grind your ass up but somehow inexplicably you don’t really need to level up to beat any of the bosses. I don’t know where to go or why I’m doing anything. I completely forgot we were trying to find his missing golden pipe, and that’s in the title! Oh, and at one point you lose your whole party and have to fight a boss just as goemon, which as you know from other RPGs, is always fun. What else is there? Show me which characters can equip which weapons! And show me how much more effective they are from each other! That’s RPG 101, guys. Not even the first Final Fantasy for the NES did you that dirty.

I guess the goofy faces the enemies make when you hit them are fun. And the ending is kind of funny too
