In summary, the gameplay is poor, while everything else is near perfect.

The biggest issue is that the game plays itself. Cutscenes are 'interactive' for no reason, and half of the 'gameplay' is just slow and boring tasks like looting or shit shovelling. Horse riding is done for you, shooting is done for you, you have no freedom in anything. The game tells you exactly where to go, and exactly what button to press when you get there. Shooting is admittedly quite fun though.

The open world allows for more freedom, and I wish that they managed to replicate this freedom into the missions as well.

I spent hours just chilling at the camp with the squad. The amount of dialogue written for every character is astonishing. This was definitely my favourite part of the game. Unfortunately, you are forced to walk at a snails pace around the camp.

This game is a slog, and usually I prioritise gameplay over anything, but that was not the case this time. RDR2 proved that gameplay isn't everything, but it also proved that realism can go too far in videogames.
