... wow that's hard.

The stages themselves are a fair difficulty. Hard, but if you take your time, and grind up on some enemies back to full health/ammo, the stages became very doable. The very last one was the only one where I struggled much at all to beat a level.

The bosses on the other hand... that's a whole nother story. The first 3 are fine. Not all that hard, and only took me a couple tries at most to beat. Then boss 4 made me die probably around 20 times.
And then the final bosses. I literally had to cross reference a speedrun guide and use those strategies just to be able to beat them. They are HARD. Too hard, really, especially after a stage that is not very good in my opinion.

The physics of this game are a bit weird to get used to, and it kinda sucks you can only shoot your weapons horizontally, but you can definitely learn to deal with that. It may not seem like the level design complements that everywhere, but there are usually pretty good ways to get through everything.

Overall, it's honestly a pretty decent game, it's just really brutal for a first time playthrough. The graphics are some of the coolest looking on the NES if you ask me, and the music is really good. I definitely enjoyed playing this one, but the difficulty is holding it back from being a really good game.
