It perfected the formula of the already great first game, with more characters, powers, and options. However! I still think the first one is better.

The game looks way too dark and many of the areas look kind of ugly, compared to the first game where I fondly remember exploring a well lit city and a snowy forest. You also fight against D tier villains that you may not recognize even if you are an X-men fan.

Def agree with 1 being better but you'd consider a cast of bosses like the Brood, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, Stryfe, Deadpool, Mr Sinister, Dark Beast, and Apocalypse to be a game where you fight against D tier villains? Sure there's some more obscure ones like Grizzly, Abyss, Mikhail, Nemesis and Sugar Man but I'd definitely give them a pass since they were prominent in the Age of Apocalypse comics.

Hello, thanks for readin'. I stand by my point, I wasn't saying X-men fan as in a person that has read many comics, I meant as in the general audience that likes X-men like me. I have read about 100 X-men issues (I want to keep reading at some point), I watched all 14 movies many times, I watched the 90's cartoon, and I still don't know (Or remember) who Brood and Stryfe are, so I consider that over half of the villains are unknown to most people.

Thanks for the reply. The Brood are a major race of villains in the comics with hundreds of unique appearances not counting their appearance in a dozen different comic AUs or the animated series, the anime series', MODOK, Marvel Snap, Mutant Apocalypse, toys, and so forth. They also appeared in the Age of Apocalypse comic which this game was based on. I would not think they are obscure at all.

As for Stryfe, he was Cable's nemesis ever since New Mutants with again 100 comic appearances, consistently ranks in top villain lists, has AUs including Ultimate Marvel which was a big deal, was in X-Men TAS continuity to the point of being turned into a major villain in the continuation, the final boss in another X-Men game, and had several toys. X-Force in fact is in the top 3 best selling comic books of all time so Stryfe being the main villain was a huge deal.

In fact the majority of villains in the game were in at least one x-men animated series or hulk VS wolverine, were prominent villains when the x-men was at its peak of popularity in the comics, had ultimate marvel versions, consistently place in top comic villain rankings, were playable in a lot of video games or featured as bosses, got multiple toys and some were even featured in the fox-men films. They may not be the most known nowadays to people who just watch the MCU but I definitely recognized most of the villains when the game first came out and would say most of the boss are closer to B list than D list as I associate D listers with somebody like Strobe who essentially disappeared immediately after being introduced or Hazard who doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, just to name a few.

What are your favourite X-Men comics you've read?

Well thank you for explaining, that was a lot of information. I read some random physical copies of the 70's and 90's that I found at conventions. I then started reading Astonishing X-Men but I felt that I was missing information, so I started reading New X-Men and the same thing happened, so last year I decided to start from the beginning and I read the 60's run (It wasn't very good). And I'm planning to continue to the 70's at some point in the future. I also want to read Generation X because I liked the movie, even though it's cheesy. You can recommend me stuff if you want, I won't promise that I'll read it cause I don't read much.
