I loved the idea of region locking the Pokemon till you beat your objective. It helps me to learn more about the importance of Unova pokemon rather than relying on the previous 4 generations of pokemon. As the first game based around the setting of New York City and its surrounding area, I was blown away by the 3D effects pulled off by The Pokemon Company.
Half Star off for the story. One of the antagonists is too blind to realize what he is doing is heinous until they are defeated.
Also, I did not like that they gave the true boss a certain pokemon with a level not possible to be fully evolved with.
On a good note, the game gives a nice touch about theme of pokemon in the lore
