Pokemon was in a weird state in the third generation. The kids that grew up with the games were either tired of the trend or moved on. I happened to be a young kid at the time of the release of Ruby/Sapphire so I was not in this group.

Overall, I think its good and better than gen 1 games but I feel like this game has a lot of forgetful pokemon like Gulpin, Swalot, Spoink, Azurill, Spheal, Spinda, Castform, Luvdisc, Clamperl, Huntail and Gorebyss.
