Playtime: 6 Hours
Score: 8/10

So I started this DLC a year ago when it came out, but got busy and wasn't able to finish it. I recently had a day off from work so I decided to come back and spend the day finishing it up. Returning to this game felt like catching up with an old best friend as this game was my GOTY of 2019, and I just really loved playing it! The story for this DLC has you go to Eridanos where you have to solve the murder of a famous actress who was referenced a lot throughout the base game.

Once again the writing and character interactions are fantastic in this DLC and it just reminded me why I love this game! Eridanos itself is a beautiful planet to explore even if its only one map location. The use of color and the general art style makes this game always great to look at. With Peril on Gorgon one of my complaints was most of the NPCs were huddled up in one building, with only one other small group of NPCs located somewhere else on the map, which left most of the asteroid feeling lifeless. Here thankfully, the NPCs are spread out much better as you always find someone to talk to or get a quest from. The map design is also a lot better as its much easier to get around where as the Gorgon asteroid was hard to navigate sometimes.

I also found the story to be a bit better this time around and the mystery was very interesting to uncover. One of the new gameplay mechanics is a device that allows you to scan crime scenes for clues. It talks to you with some funny dialogue, and as you scan the crime scenes, you will get skill checks like you would when talking to a NPC, that allows you to make deductions. I found it to be quite fun and different to most other games that try to do the whole Batman Arkham detective mode mechanic. Unlike the first DLC however, that had you revisit old planets that now had new areas, this DLC has you on Eridanos the entire time, which didn't bother me but it may for others.

My only real negatives are some of what I said in my previous DLC review. The level cap only gets raised by 3, making the final cap only 36 which is just too low in my opinion. In New Vegas each DLC raised the cap by 5, which I would have liked here, as 40 being the final cap would have been cool. You just don't get much points to level, if you were already at max level before this DLC like me. Halfway through this DLC I was already at the level cap, so quests after that didn't even give me XP anymore. This will obviously only be if your a high level like I was at the start, but its still worth mentioning. Companions do get some great new dialogue, but there are no new quests with them.

Overall this was a solid DLC for me, and definitely my favorite of the two. I highly recommend it if your a fan of the base game!
