Crash team racing was one of my favorite games from the ps1 era and was something i was eager to play, i was delighted when nintendo realeased the trial for the game so i finally would be able to play it.

The thing is, it was really disapoiting, surely the game is pretty and the music is still a blast, but the campaign is really not that good because of what they did with the ai.

In this version, even in normal mode, to win the races you need to be picture perfect with your drifts, so that way you can get ahead, except that even after that the ai can get to you like magic. In other kart games, and even on the original version, you can get last by random stuff, but you can also get back in first by that.

Here if you missed a turn, might aswell restart, and if you are in the last lap and did everything correct, make sure to have a missile or something, because someone will show up outta of nowhere.

Not to mention the bosses, that all throw things behind them, so you must be thinking that if you pass them you can win easily , right? Wrong. they magically teleport to pass you. I left the game on the last boss because of that.

Sure the online can be fun with friends, but i cannot convince someone to buy this game and learn on the campaign, so yea, it's a disappointment, some bits of nostalgia but that was it for me
