I'm going to be generous with the stars since I only watched the cutscenes on the 2.5 mix release, but from what I have seen of the gameplay on youtube, I'm not sure this would have been my cup of tea anyways. After years and many games of carving out a very specific combat system that players of the series know and love, they decide to mix in different styles of combat. Not saying it's a bad thing, because I love trying new things, but maybe they should have stuck to just like a turn based or tactics style instead of trying so many different genres.
Now that being said, the gameplay is nothing compared to the story. My poor boy Sora has now had amnesia like four separate times in this whole series, and must run the worlds from all the games all over again because Jiminy's journal got hacked. Yes you read that correctly. The payoff at the end? Feels like literally nothing happened and we are right back to where we started. To say it feels unnecessary is kind. To say it feels like it wasted your time is more accurate.
