I'll start by saying simply, I really liked this game and love the universe Remedy has built with its games. While some might have problems with the gameplay in Alan Wake I can't find myself having much issue with it. I'll admit it shows its age a bit but it never took me out of the experience, and the strong atmosphere paired with an engaging story and mystery kept me invested the whole way through. I love the world of weird paranormal occurrences that Remedy has built with Alan Wake and Control which absolutely stands on its own among its often-stated inspirations like Twin Peaks and The Twilight Zone and have consistently found myself drawn in with each of their games and engaged with the characters presented in them.

Over all I think Alan Wake is a great game that holds up well today with the remaster giving a nice amount of visual polish and a fantastic story that even manages to give some good laughs among its surreal horror elements. And of course, bonus points for some fantastic music throughout the game that I'm sure I'll be listening to for a long time to come. Truth be told I struggle to really put my feelings and rapidly growing attachment to Remedy's works to words, but they've struck me in a way not many games have. Definitely one I would recommend to anyone into the more "weirdcore" side of horror and one that will stay with me for a while to come.
