I've played it on a DS. Why do people not like the ported version?

As free of spoilers as I can possibly manage, they have to work the script to be agnostic of the hardware (which is the most impressive utilization of the medium IMO) and the last puzzle is reworked to be "just" another puzzle rather than working itself into how the story is told.
