I'm rating this game including all the updates because they make a big difference. Getting straight to the point, Sonic Frontiers is my favorite Sonic game. It has very unique gameplay for the series, an amazing soundtrack, awesome boss battles, and a great story with wonderful writing and characterization. It has a few issues here and there, such as the annoying 2D sections of the third island, the fourth and fifth islands just being more of the first, the lackluster animations, and the original rushed ending and final boss, but the devs were clearly very passionate about this game. Most of the issues seem to come from the game being rushed by Sega more than anything. However, the updates do fix a lot of the problems, like the terrible original ending and the final boss (The third update's new ending is insanely cool; the best ending of any Sonic game). Although, even with its issues, I still believe Sonic Frontiers is an awesome game, and it makes me very excited for the future of the franchise.
