Okay so Alan Wake's American Nightmare. And yeah I know I gave this 4 stars rating while I gave the original Alan Wake 3.5 stars but WAIT LEMME EXPLAIN. This game surprised me in many ways, I tought it was some random non-canon arcade game and while it has a very nice arcade mode, the main story is completely canon and very interesting! It provides a lot of insight into what happened in the first game and the years after, while building in what those phenomena are. The gameplay in this is so much better, pretty much everything I complained about the first game is improved here. No more getting the same lanters or same guns every time, no more enemies sneaking up on you while you have no idea or indication where the came from. And now we actually got many types of different guns here, Alan can run a lot longer before getting tired and now the game has enemy variety at last! I'm not gonna spoil what the main gimmick of this is because it surprised me a lot, but it's very nice and well done. Exploring the "open" areas feels good and you actually get rewarded by finding the manuscript pages now besides well, reading them. There are some very cool moments and characters, and Mr. Scratchy is great villain. This feels like one of those weird Kingdom Hearts in-between games and I love it! It's totally my jam! And that little thing during the credits is just very fascinating to me. I love what Remedy is doing and will continue my journey through those games.
