Truxton is a shmup that still has a small cult following to this day, but honestly I don't really get it because Truxton feels like a very standard shmup in most ways. I don't even necessarily mean that as a bad thing, the design in Truxton is competent from beginning to end and the weapon types are fun to use, but ultimately doesn't really feel like anything special. Also it has that kind of obnoxious difficulty curve where most of the game is easy but if you take one unlucky hit or get sniped from behind (which will happen a lot) you lose all of your power and it'll probably be the end of your credit.

I imagine the fairly popular Mega Drive/Genesis port is the main reason behind the popularity of Truxton now that I think about it
