I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I love both Another Code: Two Memories and Another Code: R A Journey Into Lost Memories. I legitimately had no expectations going into both of these games as I bought it because I collect (mostly) every Nintendo first party game that they publish for the Switch. I'm genuinely shocked that I resonated so much with the stories of these games. These games tell such a compelling narrative about Ashley with her family issues which was executed incredibly well in my opinion. The characters were characterized in such a compassionate and comforting way that I didn't really mind that most of them weren't too important to the overarching story. I think what carries both of these games for me is Ashley as a character. She feels very fleshed out and incredibly relatable in how she acts, I just can't help, but love her character. However, there are a lot of flaws to the game with how the puzzles are really complex or are not really telegraphed well. There are some parts in both of the games where it feels like its meandering with exposition dumps or uninteresting side plots. There are many valid criticisms of the game that people have brought up, but for me, I can look past the flaws. This game to me was so cozy and joyful to play through in a time where I needed it most, it just feels so genuine and earnest in what it sets out to do that I can't help but love this small little story. I don't think we'll ever see Ashley for another adventure again which is a shame, but I'm so happy I gave this game a chance. I hope others give this game a chance as well.
