GRID, which was one of the most unique racing series of all time, comes back in such a shallow and sauceless package that you'd think it was a fan-made spiritual successor. There's not really anything wrong with this game, but there's not really anything notable about it either. Playing it feels like eating lukewarm leftovers, lacking all the spice and effort of the original dish.

Gone is a story or really any kind of interesting campaign structure. Similar to Forza, you now simply have a list of events to complete before unceremoniously racing against generic boss racers. A new leveling system is implemented, but all this means is that some cars will be locked not behind completion of milestones or achieving the money necessary to acquire them, but simply grinding out enough races. The series' previously iconic sense of gray-red style is replaced by a bland beige smog background that carries through almost all menus.

Feels like a game from 2004 for all the wrong reasons, and from a studio infinitely less talented than I know Codemasters is capable of being.
