I think everyone knows what this is. Its still pretty fun even if you know better variations of this game are in store for its future.

Specifically momentum-based is a little tougher. I was thinking more twin-stick shooters like Robotron 2084 and forward. But if you want momentum my best recommendation is Atari's Space Duel https://www.backloggd.com/u/LukeofURL/review/550103/ I only really remember one other clearly and that was Blasteroids but I haven't played it in years.
