The original Actraiser was a novelty, but it was a charming novelty.

Actraiser Renaissance strips away that charm and delivers a game that simultaneously feels like a mess, but also a cynical reimagining of the original. It's filled with bland characters, an early 2000s flash game tier tower defense game, and an art style that only a Cruelty Squad stan could love.

I don't love the original, but I'll certainly continue to look back on it more fondly than this. Soundtrack still bretty good doe.
