Better than you'd think just going by the name. That the types of hats have different stacking properties (overall height vs brim height), and that the player can split pairs of hats, adds some strategy to proceedings, as do the fireballs (unreliable but appreciated when they crop up) and the fire sales (they keep you waiting on them for quite some time, but they're an absolute lifesaver if you play smartly). It's got nothing on Tetris, of course - there's an inherent whimsy to Hatris's theming that limits its universal appeal, which you also can't remove from Hatris without fundamentally changing the game the way Tetris's theming is different from game to game. But it's a solid enough follow-up act.
