What a miserable experience this was to revisit and complete. One of the blandest video games ever made. Short levels, forgettable soundtrack, awful story and characters, and ridiculous completion goals. There is absolutely no reason for this game to have THREE tiered collectables in order to 100% the game. The latter of which doesn't even award anything in game. Classic Sonic's controls so poorly in this mess. It's even more astonishing when you realize that Mania released mere MONTHS before this did. How do both games control so differently!? Giving this 1.5 because the avatar stuff is actually pretty enjoyable, although the levels still suck, and there is the occasional level where something cool happens, but it's over before it can truly shine. The sharp downgrade from Generations is just incredible.
