A messy comeback.
I have a very mixed opinion about this game. I feel the the gameplay is extremely strong and feels better and more fun to play than the first two games. The new character Viola’s “gameplay” feels like a new fresh addition to a little of what we’re used to in the series. The transformations and demon summons are really cool and is what makes this game stand out.
The 2D spy missions I personally don’t enjoy very much but they do help break up the game and they’re not very long.
The bosses are fine but none really stand out.
The Giant demon fights are not fun and I’m convinced the AI reads your inputs on some of the moves.
The story, writing, character interactions, dialogue, and ending are extremely stupid and cheaply put together. The only thing I really enjoyed was what happens during the final boss. Not anymore before and not anything after.
Then lastly Viola. Everything besides her gameplay is awful and a terrible addition to the series. Literally Nero from DMC but done wrong. Actually deadweight.
