I have a lot of complicated feelings on this remaster. I love the Klonoa series to death, I'm sure most of us do. At their core, the games still play great and are experiences I could not recommend enough. I'm still psyched as hell we get these games again but unfortunately it's not without reservations.
I had to turn down all of the graphical settings to get the game to stop constantly stuttering. My PC is pretty weak so take that with a grain of salt, but I've heard similar complaints from others on various platforms. Personally I don't mind the updated graphical style, but it works much better for Door to Phantomile than Lunatea's Veil imo. I definitely understand why some prefer the originals.
In addition to what appears to be a lack of care, the ridiculous DLC pricing is an eyebrow-raiser for me. It's pretty commonplace nowadays for companies to try and milk the hell out of fans with remakes/collections (not pretending like I am immune to this), this instance leaves me particularly jaded because it's something so close to my heart.
I'm worried that the game's reception could lead to the decision to produce sequels. It doesn't sound like a bad idea on paper, but I don't know if I want more Klonoa if it's going to become just more capitalism-manufactured nostalgiabait mediocrity in a similar vein to how these remakes were handled.
