first time playing chapters 2 and 3. i debated whether i should review each chapter separately and im still not sure i think of them as a unified whole but im also not sure i have enough to say without bunching it all together. they are all undeniably Charismatic which is impressive given the obviously abrasive elements of play and aesthetic, and each chapter does feel like a v distinct moment to moment experience. im probably most partial to the aimless wandering of the first, which takes advantage of its arch-typical exorcism story to fill in the blanks of its lo-fi presentation. the seconds focus on incessant Boss stuff is less compelling 2 me, but the third is honestly mostly a p good and well paced mix of stuff from the previous two. narratively i dont quite know what to get from this other then the Catholic Propaganda thats p much inseparable from exorcism horror...im honestly not sure if the hysterical moral panic vibes of rock and roll and drugs and abortion (mostly in chapter 3) are supposed to just be part of ward's POV (it does play around a bit with his sanity), or if theres genuinely reactionary intent here, or if its just shallow genre convention that hasnt been given any thought, or if im just completely misinterpreting it. ig thats the pitfalls of the vagueness forced by the presentation (tho thankfully u dont gotta Matpat or anything, there Is a story and its happening in the Present, it avoids some nasty indie horror tendencies in that way), which also is what benefits the horror, so idk. p cool but not sure how much im actually taking away now that its over
