This is in the same category as Kiwami 2, where it's fun and still a Yakuza game at its core, but it's just not up there with other titles.
You have styles to switch to but none of them are particularly great, and heat actions are a joke, on top of enemies having 5 billion hp, and they get armour for some reason later too? Just cringe.
I did like the story overall, but the set pieces (long battles) felt lacking apart from the final two. Then there's the side content, arguably the strongest part of the franchise, which is basically deliver vegetables to veggie loving boy, no vegetables woman, man who can't fish, man who can't do deliveries. There's this side mode where you explore dungeons with trooper abilities where you shoot fireballs and lightning and stuff, which is pretty much 8-10 hours of walking through corridors fighting 100 damage sponges.
Just play Yakuza peak 0 or Lost Judgement instead.
