I like what this game goes for, but it's too clunky for me to fully enjoy it. I like the idea of emphasizing the weight of the mobile suits, but it goes a little too far in this aspect, you get stuck in animations where you can't shoot during, and you can't shoot while shielding which feel wrong since Amuro pulls off some insane acrobatics in the anime. You also can only shoot to where an enemy is, not where they're going, meaning it's not realistically possible to shoot an enemy that's moving. It doesn't feel like I'm Amuro piloting the Gundam, but rather some random shmuck piloting a GM. The enemies are really spongy, making the combat feel super slow, I had to shoot a Zaku II with a beam rifle 15 times to destroy it one time. Presentation wise there are so many aspects that feel authentic to the original T.V show, and I really appreciate all that, but the gameplay doesn't sell the same illusion which is a shame. The game is short so it doesn't overstay its welcome, but don't expect too much content. I feel like the sequel, Encounters in Space, does a much better job at selling you on being in the show, which makes me disappointed with this game that fails to accomplish the same thing.
