were you using the "english" language option? its and outdated translation from 2014 that made an attempt to westernize the game. "english (jp subtitles)" is the updated one

Uh I played the german 3ds version. When I checked the options, I was unable to find a language section of sorts.

The european 3DS versions had some problems and never got the updated translation, unlike the NA release
