While the ending drops the ball hard and the side quests all got turned into fetch quests, the rest of this game is fantastic and has some of the best moments in the entire series it. Seeing how the Reaper’s invading has effected the entire galaxy as more and more people show up at the Citadel over the course of the game either wounded or barely managing to stay alive is chilling while moments like Thane’s goodbye, finally setting foot on the Quarian homeworld, and Tuchanka are all incredibly touching and in some cases heart wrenching moments that even 2 couldn’t match. At the same time the Citadel DLC is one of the funniest goddamn things I’ve ever played. Seeing all these characters interact in this absurd story and ending it off with a party that has some amazing character moments and still manages to end on a touching note is incredible. The gameplay here is also probably the best in the series (haven’t played Andromeda so who knows) with a fast and kinetic pace that keeps you on your toes and arena design that is better than anything in 2.
