Starting a Pokemon game series marathon to lead up to Legends, so I'm starting with this one.

This game still has a degree of fun to it and, given the circumstances, is still fairly impressive for the time, but this is one of the worst aged games I've ever played. Not only are mainstay mechanics either not been added yet or work completely differently, but it's also a buggy, glitchy mess of a game. Some stuff didn't work at all, some glitched the game, one type was so bugged that it broke the whole balance of the game, stuff that didn't make sense, playing OG RB is pretty mindblowing at how broken it is.

On its own merits, It's decent. The world is fun to explore, the characters are memorable, the story is pretty barebones, the pokemon roster is pretty good, and the music is decent. It's just that those technical problems and how HORRIBLY it aged really pulled this one back. Also the lack of a postgame.

It's still decent at its core but with FRLG existing there is literally no reason to play this version now.
