Revenge of Shinobi, while keeps a lot of the same elements as the original Arcade game, it improves upon some things to make it a decent sequel in my eyes.

The stages are more dynamic, and they have a nice variety of environments. The bosses are alright, but some of them were fun to fight, especially because there's one that looks like Spider-Man and another that looks like Godzilla.
The soundtrack is fine, not the most memorable from Yuzo Koshiro, but decent enough.
And there are no more hostages to save, which doesn't really mean much, because in the original they were always in the way to the end, but still nice to not have to worry about them.

There are only two things I didn't like about this game:
- Some of the enemy placement could get rather annoying, especially in tight areas.
- Some of the jumps are very precise, and you can just barely make them.

Besides that, Revenge of Shinobi, while not an amazing game by any means, was a fine enough game on its own right, and better than its predecessor, but not by a whole lot.
