A vast and beautiful landscape with not a whole lot to do in it. The plot did its job to keep me on the right track, but when I would stray from that to explore a cool looking location, I'd never come with anything more interesting than some hair dye or a neat hat. A bit more gameplay variety besides scrounging would have done a lot for this game. The quest structure was a little confused. I'd get a quest to acquire a fish found only in certain bodies of water, or I could get it from some schmuck in exchange for a few rocks. I could tend to one of several farms for some more trading material, but it seemed a bit pointless when the most worthwhile thing to trade for was cosmetics, which did look great and did a fine job covering the frankly goofy looking character model. Every time I discovered something new it did feel momentous, but it didn't last beyond the second it happened, and that wonder grew more dim as it went on. This game is good to scratch that specific itch of just wandering around with little care, but personal that doesn't have a lot of staying power.
