I was going through my library to see what games I still wanted to play before this year ended and then I reminded myself that I did play Dead Island 2 back in the summer. And now as I delete the game from my hard drive I feel confident that this game; that went through a 10 year long development cycle was just...........alright. It was alright.

The combat was serviceable, the crafting system is bog standard for 7th gen, the characters are all one note but still a little charming, and the gore is pretty impressive at points, but honestly that's about it. I feel like besides the Dead Island name and the really impressive gore, nothing about this game stands out among all the other zombie games released in the 7th gen era.
I think that's probably why I stopped playing it one day and just never returned to it months later.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
