The game is way too long. It ends about 7 times and while the final ending is quite good, it includes a terrible boss rush. The actual mechanics of the game are honestly ingenious, and the drawing is fantastic (when it works). The dungeon design is mostly fun but fails to capture what makes dungeons really engaging in games like this, which is a coherent level design. The story itself ranged from very good to very bad, with the bad parts being those when Issun spoke more often than usual. Issun may just be the worst video game character I've ever had to endure for this long. I desperately wish the game just had our silent protagonist. It's mostly annoying considering how many good characters there are, like Oki or Susano.

Overall, the game is good, but had way too many issues with stale combat, inconsistent character writing, repeated bosses (if I ever have to fight Orochi again I'll lose it), and pacing. Shave about 5-10 hours out of this game and it goes up at least another point to be honest.
