A very weird, unique and underrated open world sandbox game that came out with a rushed release near the end of the PS2 life cycle that you absolutely need to give a try!

You have a huge city, with almost every other building being enterable... that runs at 20fps and only spawns 2-3 same cars at most. Vast variety of guns and vehicles... that almost all sound and act the same. Many different outfits and hairstyles that the character can wear... that are hidden around the map and there's no map guide in the game or in the internet so the locations are a absolute secret.

Some port quirks and useful information: The PS2 being the best most accurate port, running at the worst framerate. PC version, stay away, It's completely broken running at double speed at all times and weapons have no textures. Xbox would be great if there wasn't a soft lock in a mission that makes the game basically impossible to finish. And last the GC port, with downgraded graphics and lighting probably because the game was too big for the small disc. Please save a lot, the game is prone to crashes.

But with all these problems being said, this game has a pretty fun but dumb story that you shouldn't take seriously, the environments are really well done and detailed, the game looks fantastic indoors. The original soundtrack is filled with absolute jammers, as is the licensed tracks The game is sprinkled with very fun moments like having a sword fight in a japanese themed roof, chases through the abyss of New York underground or gunfighting through museums and theaters.

Mechanic wise this game has the most interesting and fun rendition of being a cop in a videogame I ever seen. You can arrest baddies, you can go for non lethal takedowns like flashbangs, stun rods, punching them down or shooting in non deadly places (lol!) such as arms and legs... or just kill them. New York is crime ridden and there's shit happening all the times, from random street fights to hostage situations in banks and it's up to you to help resolve... or just plant evidence in random civilians and declare that area as crime ridden.
