It's certainly a Kao the Kangaroo game in 2022 that's for sure. For what it is it'd honestly be pretty solid if it wasn't for the general lack of gameplay polish that permeates for the entire game leading to dumb bugs and glitches from visual faux-pas to "oops I clipped through the word time to restart the level".
Probably the most egregious glitch thing the game has is when you fall into a pit or bad water or whatever. There are lots of coins in all the levels not unlike coins in a super mario game and they're used to purchase heart pieces, lives and character customization things. When you fall into a bad pit water whatever, your coins are reverted to whatever amount they were when you hit the checkpoint you respawned at, but the coins don't respawn. So you can get a shitload of coins, lose a heart by falling into bad water, but also lose the coins you picked up before the checkpoint and falling. Coins don't mean much because you probably won't be running out of lives but it's dumb I tell you! Dumb and feeds into the game being unpolished and rough!
