One of the most hyped-about wrestling games in years, AEW Fight Forever was delayed, and then delayed again, and again, and when it eventually did release, out popped a 2010 PS3 game in 2023. The gameplay is rough. The minigames are on par with AEW's equally bad mobile games. Only a fraction of the roster is on it and probably 10% of those jumped ship to WWE since. The creation suite, dear god. Road to Elite, much like WWE 2K's career modes, drags and feels like such a chore to get through. I'll give Fight Forever this, it's better than WWE 2K20 and Battlegrounds, and the developers refuse to give up on it, releasing updates pretty regularly. The unique weapon selection is also a pro, and I do enjoy some of the stipulations you won't find on any other wrestling game. I heard the horror stories and avoided playing it until it was free, because this is absolutely a $15 game sold for $60 upon its release.

Ubisoft at its Ubisoft-iest with ridiculously long loading screens, a near broken online lobby system, and AIs that always fucking win. And of course you get the Ubisoft experience of them cramming their premium services down your throat and being able to do barely anything without it. The flash Uno games on sketchy websites are better than this.

One of my favorite classic PS1 games is Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, which has stellar controls and seemingly infinite (and beyond) replayability. This? This is not that. This is, in fact, the very opposite, as Buzz slips and slides all over lazy maps with no story or reason to give a shit. You are a sad, strange little game.

I was a 2000s kid, but I idolized 80s and 90s NBA stars before my time and looked up to legends like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Rented this from Blockbuster constantly and was always amazed at the awesome, unique gameplay and being one of the few basketball games at the time to utilize such a legend-heavy roster.
