While I was playing it, it made a lot of sense why this is a pretty decisive game. The movement can get really floaty and trying to make precise movements can fuck your shit up. Which is bad when you're dealing with the levels where Fludd is taken away from you. And the final level before Corona Mountain, Pianta Village can slurp the nut I put into their mother.

However even though at first I was really struggling with it, the world was gripping me with a sense of wonder and amusement that I didn't want to put down the controller. Nintendo has always been great at this, but for me Isle Delfino is where they peaked when it came to mainline Mario hub worlds, even though I really don't like summer. In addition to Delfino, Fludd is my favorite character to come out of Sunshine, mostly because the movement mechanics they allow you to do, which becomes engaging with each new ability they get. Plus their character design is top tier.

The levels in Sunshine are almost all great with levels I'm gonna remember for probably for the rest of my life. The design of which are have a middle ground of abstract to places I can see people live in or visit.

But I can totally see why this game isn't people's cup of tea (that movement can get jank). However, getting past that it's a pretty fun yet challenging game. Even though this is my first time playing it, I got a lot of value in it and I'm pleased this held up without nostalgia blinding me.

Also I have the feeling Scatman John had a influence on this game's soundtrack, don't have any sources on this, it's a vibe I had while playing.
