There are very few games as truly unique as Pikmin and while it's certainly an acquired taste - one I didn't actually enjoy until my second playthrough - it's an experience that stays with you once you're in its clutches.

As a game, this first entry in the series can certainly be rough (the enhancements on Switch come as a welcome boon but perhaps could have gone further to iron out the many kinks) but its overall atmosphere, its flavourful worldbuilding and addictive gameplay loop serves as a solid foundation for the titles that followed.

It's certainly not perfect by any means but it stands as a bold, brutal, beautiful little title that will give you a new perspective on not only the world around you but video games themselves.
